Our two flagship rental vehicles, kept in Hokkaido and fitted with studless winter tires in the cold season. Alphard summer peak: Jul 1 – Aug 31; winter peak: Dec 15 – end of February. HiAce Grand Cabin high season: December 15 through the end of February and July 1 through August 31.

Four coverage levels, priced per 24 hours and added to the rental rate. The figures below are your maximum out-of-pocket amount in the event of an accident. Coverage and support are coordinated by Hokkaido Compass for both our own fleet and vehicles supplied by trusted local partners.

Max out-of-pocket
Zero out-of-pocket for property damage, vehicle damage and NOC in every scenario, including self-inflicted damage and hit-and-run. Recommended for winter driving and first-time visitors.
- NOC (Non-Operation Charge): ¥50,000 if the vehicle cannot be driven back, ¥20,000 if it is returned under its own power.
- Not covered in any plan: punctures and blowouts, damaged or lost wheel caps, soiling or damage to the interior, and long-distance towing.
- Optional coverage must be selected at pick-up and may be declined if there is a prior accident history the rental company deems unsuitable.

An international driving permit (1949 Geneva Convention) plus your home license is accepted. Taiwan and Switzerland use an official translation.

Winter (November – April)
- Road conditions in Hokkaido can be significantly different from normal city driving. Snow-covered roads, icy surfaces, snowstorms and reduced visibility may increase driving difficulty.
Summer (May – October)
- Self-driving is generally recommended. Roads are clear and Hokkaido is one of Japan's most rewarding regions to explore by car.
